Nihilism for Romantics

The hardest thing is waking up on a day that doesn’t matter

Which I guess is all of them, yeah

But as a romantic, some of them should matter, right?

You know, like they do in the movies

Unfortunately, life is a whole lot of waking up on days we know won’t matter

And hoping they’re ones we just think won’t matter

It’s easy to understand our collective insignificance during a daily routine

Only when big stuff is happening do we not want to think about it

But we’re forced to command our collective insignificance during a daily routine

Only when big stuff is happening are we freed from this prison and doubt it

This is the precisely pitiful paradoxical prison of the nihilistic romantic who just for the sake of living wishes they had less opinions on the subject.
